Choosing Wooden Venetian Blinds instead of Metal Blinds

By James Anthony

There are plenty of different types of window dressings one can use these days to create varied atmospheres within a home. One style of window covering that is proving very popular these days is wooden venetian blinds. Not only can they stop sunlight from getting into a room, but if you want to you can open them up so that light can access and help to warm a room up.

There are many reasons why people prefer to get their interior designers to install wooden venetian blinds rather than other sorts of window coverings and below we take a look at what these are.

1. Venetian blinds made from wood help to create a more pleasant and inviting atmosphere to a room. However, if you want yours to last although they are durable they need to be cared for correctly and below we explain this.

2. If you would like to you can match the wood trim and furniture in your home to the blinds that you have chosen to have installed. This again will help to create a more uniformed look to each room where they have been installed.

3. You can purchase Venetian wooden blinds readymade, but if you windows that are an unusual size then it is worth considering getting some custom made ones. Having custom made ones will increase their functionality plus you will have much larger selection to choose from. Along with different styles you will be able to select colors that match perfectly to other items made from wood in your home.

Above we have looked at several reasons why people decide to have wooden venetian Blinds fitted to their windows. However, once purchased if you want them to remain looking as good as when you purchased them you need to care for them properly.

First off you should make sure that the blinds are cleaned regular to prevent any dust or dirt building up on them. You can do this very easily using either a soft brush or a soft duster, both of which must be clean. The other way of cleaning wooden Venetian blinds is by putting the brush attachment on to your vacuum cleaner.

You can wipe the blinds down using a damp cloth but never should you immerse them fully into water. If you do eventually water will be able to break through the seal of the wooden Venetian blind slats and this will cause them to warp. So to help remove any stubborn dirt or dust from the blinds you just need to wipe over the surface of the slats with a damp cloth with some detergent on it.

Do you want window coverings that let in ample amounts of light but also ensure that others cannot see into your home? Then you may want to seriously think about getting some wooden Venetian blinds installed. - 16759
